The 2019 Dodge Journey is a reliable three-row SUV that features two engine choices, three suspension system options, and an available rear-seat entertainment system. Compared to other cars in this segment, the Dodge Journey is also very affordable.
As the SXT trim has been dropped with the new Dodge Journey, you can now choose from three trim levels: SE, Crossroad, and GT. The SE trim comes with 17-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, front fog lights, high beam daytime running lamps, LED taillights, black side roof rails, body-colored door handles, heated and power-adjustable mirrors, a rear window wiper, and a removable short-mast antenna. With the Crossroad trim, you’ll get 19-inch aluminum wheels, platinum-chrome side roof rails, and Crossroad badging, while the top GT trim offers dual bright exhaust tips, a body-colored grille, a “GT” badge, and a sunroof.
The standard engine offered with the 2019 Dodge Journey is a 2.4-liter I-4, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, that produces 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. If you opt for the GT trim, you’ll get a 3.6-liter V-6, paired with a six-speed automatic, that generates 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard with both engines, and all-wheel drive is optional.
Equipped with the 3.6-liter engine and the available Trailer Tow Prep package, your Dodge Journey will have the ability to tow up to 2,500 pounds. The standard trailer sway control system will afford you control while towing, by automatically applying brakes to individual wheels and managing engine throttle to mitigate sway when detected.
Three suspension systems are on option with the Journey. The standard fully independent suspension features MacPherson struts in the front and multi-link suspension in the rear that make for a comfortable and smooth ride. If you prefer a sportier performance, opt for the available touring-tuning suspension, while the available high-performance suspension will afford you an even firmer ride.
The Journey boasts an interior that offers a lot of storage space, such as storage bins in the second-row floor and under the passenger cushion, a large center console cubby, and roomy door pockets. The SE trim comes with premium cloth upholstery, a 60/40-split second-row seat, 50/50-split third-row seat, air conditioning, front and rear floor mats, second-row in-floor storage bins, and keyless ignition and entry. The infotainment system is pretty basic, featuring a 4.3-inch display, six speakers, and a USB port.
Available infotainment features keep the driver and passengers connected. Drivers have access to the 7-inch Information Digital Cluster Display that provides data to the driver such as speed, radio, safety features, and navigation. For storage capability, the rear cargo area can be configured in multiple ways to provide the optimum space when shopping or traveling.
Standard safety features include electronic stability control, a ParkView rear back-up camera, a tire-pressure monitoring system, traction control, and trailer sway damping. The GT trim adds a security alarm and rear parking sensors.
