The 2019 Jeep Wrangler was named Motortrend’s SUV of the year. If you consider how this SUV combines superior off-roading capability with a refined interior, plenty of modern technology, and a smooth on-road ride, it is small wonder that the 2019 Wrangler has managed to stand out from its competitors.
You can choose from either a two-door or a four-door body style with the 2019 Wrangler, and you can also opt for either a soft-top convertible or a hardtop model. To keep that outdoor feel despite the 2019 Wrangler’s improved on-road capability and refinement, all models also feature removable doors and a fold-down windscreen.
Five trims are on option: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon, and Moab. With the base trim you’ll get 17-inch steel wheels, front fog lamps, halogen headlights, incandescent tail lights, black manual mirrors, black front and rear bumpers, a fuel-tank skid plate, and one rear and two front tow hooks. The Sport S trim adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, automatic headlamps, and heated and power-adjustable mirrors, while the Sahara trim offers 18-inch polished wheels, daytime running lamps, body-colored fender flares, and side steps.
The off-road-focused Rubicon boasts rock rails, red tow hooks, special off-road tires, a steel front bumper, and an electronically disconnecting front roll bar, while the Moab trim offers LED head- and taillights, mud-terrain tires, and a black-painted exterior trim.
The standard engine featured with the Wrangler is a 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission, but can be optioned with an eight-speed automatic. You can also opt for the available turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, mated with an eight-speed automatic, that generates 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
There are three 4×4 systems available with the Wrangler. The Selec-Trac 4×4 system will automatically switch between front-wheel and all-wheel drive, depending on the driving conditions, whereas the Command-Trac 4×4 system can be engaged by the driver whenever four-wheel drive is needed. For superior off-roading capability, opt for the Rock-Trac 4×4 system that comes with a 4:1 low gear ratio, Tru-Lok electronic locking front and rear differentials, and an electronic front sway bar.
The interior of the 2019 Wrangler features upscale materials and modern tech. With the Sport trim comes cloth upholstery, a rear 60/40 folding seat, air conditioning, and the Uconnect 3 system that features a 5-inch display, eight speakers, and Bluetooth. The Sport S trim adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power windows and locks, while the Sahara trim offers automatic temperature control, air filtering, a universal garage door opener, ambient LED lighting, and the Uconnect 4 system with a 7-inch display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and SiriusXM.
The Rubicon features premium cloth upholstery, while the Moab trim adds a leather-wrapped shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry, premium leather upholstery, an Alpine nine-speaker audio system, and HD radio.
