4 Best Sports Bars in Indianapolis, IN
Indianapolis is a good city for sports. It hosts 11 professional sports teams, including the Colts of the NFL and the Pacers of the NBA. Then there are all the amateur and college teams, plus Indianapolis hosts the international Indy 500 every year. But if you can’t get tickets or your favorite team is away, Indianapolis sports fans will need to find a good sports bar to watch the action. Fortunately, the city has no shortage of great sports bars.
- Ale Emporium
It’s hard to find a bar name that gets as down to business as the Ale Emporium. The tavern is in the Castle Creek Plaza on Allisonville Road, not far from the I-465 loop, and it delivers on the name by offering over 200 domestic and imported brews. The list of drinks changes daily, although you’ll always see the popular brands and a few seasonal offerings on the list. Ale Emporium is also proud of its Honest Pizza and Herman-style (hermanaki) wings. The bar has plenty of TVs around so you can watch your teams, and it offers live entertainment every Sunday.
- The District Tap
The District Tap is a bar in Northeast Indianapolis, located at the Clearwater Crossing Plaza just off East 82nd Street. The District Tap makes a point of offering 60 kinds of beer on tap, including the whole spectrum of flavors and even a few ciders and meads. The food menu offers more than you’d expect, including specialties from all over, such as the shrimp po’ boy, the Cuban sandwich, and the Philly cheesesteak. The Tap also has your entertainment covered with darts, shuffleboard, and TV screens you can see from any table.
- Kilroy’s Bar ‘n Grill
Kilroy’s Bar N’ Grill is a sports bar with two locations: one downtown on Meridian Street and one to the north on Broad Ripple Street. Kilroy’s offers different drink specials every night, but no matter which day you show up you’ll be able to try one of its special Long Island iced tea blends or shooters. At Kilroy’s, it’s all about the sports, and the bar will even run special deals based on who’s playing who that day. When you stop by, you should also make a point of trying Killroy’s popular breadsticks and enjoy the new flavors that come out every month.
- Keystone Sports Review
Keystone Sports Review is at the corner of Keystone Avenue and East 56th Street. KSR isn’t the biggest bar in town, and it doesn’t have the most drinks on tap, but it does offer a cozy atmosphere, good prices, and a nice selection of steaks and thin-crust pizzas. The bar is just as much about sports as the name suggests, and you can watch the big games from one of eight flat-screen TVs. Keystone also offers delivery and backyard catering.
In a city like Indianapolis, it should be no surprise that you can find sports bars on every other block. A lot of them are quite good, but the four on this list are definitely among the best.
