Summer is finally here and at Westgate Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM we can barely contain our excitement! Our town may be called Plainfield, but trust us, there is nothing plain about it. Living near a city such as Indianapolis, we are very fortunate to have lots of fun things to do and this summer is no exception. We’ve compiled a list of awesome activities for you and the kids to enjoy in the upcoming months so get out your calendar folks because this summer may be the best one yet!
1. Splash Island
This fun-filled waterpark just opened their doors for the summer on May 30th and we can’t wait to go! Splash Island is located on 4.3 acres and includes three water slides, a six-lane competition pool, a Leisure River, and so much more! If you’re a town resident, adult passes are only $6.50 and youth passes are $5.50. So grab your bathing suits, some sunscreen, and the kids and head out to 651 Vestal Rd in Plainfield for a day of play!
2. Hummel Park
Picnics are an awesome way to spend time with your loved ones and enjoy the afternoon sun. At Hummel Park, you’ll often see families sprawled across a blanket and reveling in each other’s company. There are also plenty of hiking and biking trails that wind around the beautiful surrounding scenery and the best part is it’s completely free! Hummel Park is located at 1500 S Center Street in Plainfield.
3. Brownsburg Lions Club 4th of July Extravaganza
If you don’t already have plans, you may want to consider the Brownsburg Lions Club 4th of July Extravaganza in Brownsburg, Indiana. The event lasts June 30 to July 4 and consists of a carnival, parade and fireworks in celebration of the U.S.A. For $18 you get unlimited rides at the carnival and the parade and fireworks are free of charge! This event will be held in Arbuckle Park on 200 N. Green Street and for more information you can visit www.brownsburglionsclub.org.
4. Crown Royal 400 at the Brickyard
If you’re a NASCAR fan, you’ll definitely want to make a note of this event. Every year, Crown Royal sponsors the ‘Your Hero’s Name Here’ 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and names the competition after a deserving individual. The contest is focused on unsung heroes such as firefighters, soldiers, and local volunteers and whoever wins gets to present the trophy to the race winner. The race will be held on Sunday, July 26 with the gates opening at 10:00 am. You can purchase tickets at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com.
5. Chateau Thomas Winery
Since 1984, Chateau Thomas Winery has been giving Plainfield residents a taste of the finer things with a variety of delicious wines. The winery even features Slender® which is the first naturally-sweetened carb-free wine ever created! For only $5 you can enjoy five tastings or you can join the Wine Club and receive amazing offers such as 20% off cases, a free tasting for you and a friend, and an invitation to the Annual VIP Reception! The Chateau Tomas Winery is located at 6291 Cambridge Way. For store hours and directions, check out www.chateauthomas.com.
